Novj Plymouth Wedding. On Thursday afternoon, at the Whiteley Church, Taranain, tho marriage tool; placo of Miss Ivy I'eari Btickmaii, ol' New Plymouth, to Mr. i'rank L. Kossiter, son of i\lr. J. J. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a. goivn of white clmrmcitso satin draped with lace, and a tulla embroidered veil with a wreath of orange, lossoms. Slie carried a sheaf of lilies, rite bridesmaids were Miss D. Buclrnum ud Miss D. liossiter, botii of whom »ore pretty frocks of pink uolicmic, nith touches of cream lace and crinolino straw hats, wreathed with pink roses. Mrs. Jluckman wore black eharmeuae, trimmed with cream lace, black iaeo hat, .with tangerine roses, and carried a tangerine bouquet; Mrs.-Bossiter was in black silk, with cream laco vest, and heliotrope floral toque, and carried a heliotrope bouquet; Mrs. Calvert (sistor to the bride), wore French-grey channelise, trimmed with a darker grey velvet and saxe-bluc roses; Miss E. Buckmnn, white embroidered muslin, apricot-coloured folded satin belt, white straw hat massed with cherries; Mrs. Wallis-Jackson (Wellington), white voile over net with sappliire blue satin coat, cream hat with sapphire blue roses.

Girls' Realm Guild. On Saturday afternoon the Girls' Realm Guild held an "At Home" in tile Espcrantp Rooms on Lambton Quay for the purpose of raising funds for their Christmas treats. The' guild has been busy during the year now so nearly ended, its chief object being to assistin causes of distress and to make life a little easier for some of those who find it a- very uphill affair—a work for which, unfortunately, there would appear to be come considerable need. Quite a number of institutions benefit by their efforts at Christmas time, to say nothing of children and a number of private cases, for whom the outlook is not at all cheerful. At the "At Home" on Saturday there were stalls for flowers, sweets, and fancy sowing. In charge of the sweets woro Miss M. Hurley and Miss D. Toaguo; at tho flower stall wero Miss Franklin, Miss Brown, and Mjss Hugo; an'd-at tho fancy stall, Miss Hugo. Assisting with the afternoon tea arrangements were: Sirs. Claridgo (hnn. secretary), Misses Newenham, Hamilton, M. F. Young, Stevens, and HI. Hurloy. The door-keeper was-Miss M. F. .Young. Quantities of flowers had been obtained for the flower stall, and the 1 others, had also been well supplied with their attractions. A varied programme of entertainment had been arranged for the afternoon, its conspicuous feature being tho fancy dancing by some small children. Three little ones, Cecil liaines, Marjorio O'Shca, and Jean Plimmer, danced a Dresden China danco in-costume, all threo looking delightfully quaint and' picturesque, and dancing with much youthful grace and charm. Little JeanPliininer and Thurza Rogers gave ailother dance, and Marjorio O'Slic-a danced a sailor's hornpipe. Songs wero sung hv Mrs. "Wilson, Miss-Mueller, Miss Ellison, and Miss JJilwood, and recitations worn given by Miss Given Shepherd, Miss Hazel Jeffrey, and Mr. W. J. Edmanson. Mrs. T. Wilford, an ex-president of the Girls' Realm Guild, opened tho afternoon's proceedings with ajiriof speech, and Miss Coatcs also made a very brief speech. Tho president of the guild is Miss Stevens.

Fellcling Motes. Mrs. Wheeler has gone to New Plymouth, and Mrs. Loricn has been to Wellington. Dr. and Miss Guthrie have returned from Waikanae. ' Foikling has been quite gay this week. Tlie Feiiding Amateur Operatic Society "played "The Geisha" for two nights, and the performances wore a great success, and now there will bo two days' races to follow.

News lias been received in Napier of the marriage in London of Mrs. p. Perry to Mr. Peter Lamorte, of Canada. - Mrs. Cameron (Wairarapa) and Miss F. Anderson have been spending somo days in Napier.

interesting lecture upon "The Evolution of Japan" was given on Saturday evening at the Wellington Girls' College by Mr. Gilchrist. Views illustrative of different aspects and neriods in the history of the people emphasised tho statements made by the speaker. Mr. Gilchrist, as well as lecturing, niso played a violin solo. A vote of thanks was accorded hiin at the close of his address.

Mrs. Drysdalc (Levin) and Mrs. F. Daires returned from the south on Friday evening. Mrs. M'Larc-n and the Misses M'Laren (Masterton) and Miss Strang are visiting Wellington, and are iug at the Empire Hotel. Mrs. Cooper (Sydney) is visiting Wellington, and is spending part- of her time nilli her sister, Mrs. J. D ykes. Mrs. Sutciilfe left Wellington on Friday for Sydney and Melbourne. Miss Bennett (Otalniao) is visiting Nelson.

Mr. Walter 'Akers and Mrs. Akers, who are leaving Takapuna after having resided there for .'lO years, were the recipients of a number of handsome presents from residents on Tuesday evening. In making the presentation Mr. W. Duncan referred to tho esteem in which Mr. and Mrs. Akers were held, in the district.

The earlier part- of the afternoon was spent by the elder children in playing games outside, whilo the tiny ones were entertained inside. That Punch and J tidy still has the power to provide whole-hearted merriment for children was evidenced by the shrieks ot laughter which were provoked by the wickedness of Punch and tho combativeness of Judy, tho unseen wirepullers or actors being Miss Jones and Master Ivan Parry. Tea was laid in the dining-room, which was dccorated with the gayest of Christmas emblfems, carried from wall to wall n.nd with quantities of flowers.' Tho table had been arranged with cherry blossoms, and with delicately pink wild roses, and tho solemn ceremony- of cutting the Christmas caice wast peMc-rmad with careful dignity by the hostess's little daughter, When ten was over the children were taken into another room where a Christmas tree, glittering with silver-coloured loops and festoons, and lit with candles, fascinated {hem with its array of delightful- presents. Father Christmas himself distributed tho gifts and every little girl in addition to her, present from the tree received a beau-tifully-dressed doll. Charming little souvenirs of this occasion were presented to the grown-up guests as well, and oven tho pot dog of the household received. a present- from the tree in tho diapo of a•_ gaily-decorated cutlet. Among tho children present wero: The Al'.sses Mollie Herdman, Joyce Cooper, Myfauwy Clay, Margaret Law, Helen Porter, Molly and Jessie Peacock, Margaret Shenili,. Bunny Henderson, Kathleen and Brcnda Cimino, Marioric Aclclund, Judith and Babs Hunter, Frances Parker, Masters Jimmy Dykes, Jack 1-jerdman, Craig' Clay, Frascr Mackenzie, John Hodgkins, Ralph Orchiston, Jack Henderson, and Ivaii Parry. Among the grown-ups present were: Mrs. Hcrdntan, Mrs. Hodgkins, Mrs. Peacock. Mrs: Porter, Mrs. Parry, Mrs. Cimino, Mr. and Mrs. Dykes, Mr. Parry, Mr. and Sirs. Stephens, Mrs. Law, Miss Van Trbight, Miss .Tones, Mrs. SherriiT, and others. Mrs, Levvey wero a white embroidered gown. Miss Sutton, who, with Miss Jones and Miss Van Truight, helped to entertain tho little ones, wore a cigar-brown frock. In addition to tho Christmas decorations were quantities of flowers, vivid nasturtiums decorating tho drawingroom, roses raid blossom tho diningroom, and in tho inorniiig-ro-oni wero more roses, int-h sweet peas arid daisies. Altogether it was a delightful children's party, and.-Mr. and Mrs. Levvev left nothing undone that, could add to 'tho enjoyment of their, small guests.
