( ANNUAL BENEFIT CONCERT. Ihe annual benefit concert given by the performing musicians of Wellington, in aid of .their provident fund took place in. tl.io Town Hall last cveniuc before a largo audience. Mr. Christian Holleraann conducted the orchestra, and an. excellent programmo was presented. • •Tliu concert opened with an imposing march, ''Coronation" (Eilonberg). 'This was followed by a bracket, in which one of tho pieces was the well-known and highly-popular "Barcarolle," from Offenbach's "Tales of Hoffman." it was so attractively played that an encore was demanded and given. The ether number was a pretty entr'acte, "La Mauposa" (Diaz), which was also most acceptable. Then followed Weber's overture, "Dcr Frieschutz,'" which was faithfully played, although tlic performance lacked finish. The. next, number was Bishop's charming duet 'Lo. Here the Gentle Lark."" by flute and clarinet, with orchestral accompaniment, Mr. V. Vittotta was the flautist-. and Mr. H. Moschini played the clarinet. This was quite enjoyable, father items included the popular ''Turkish Patrol," which was encored, • and ihe overturn to "Raymond" (Thomas).
