THORNDON BATHS.
Sir, —With tho advent of the summer weather, and tho consequent increase in tho patronage of our city baths, a suggestion for an improvement in tho Thorndon baths may not be out of place. Tho suggestion is that adequate measures be taken to prevent the entrance of refuso into tho swimming enclosure. A great deal of refuse is floating about in tlio harbour, much of which, on tho rising tide, finds its way into tho baths through tlio wide spaces in the crude paling fence. It is a common thing, whilst swimming, to como in contact with cabbago leaves, turnip tops, decayed apples, - and corks innumerable. Preventive measures would not, surely, necessitate great expense, wliilo tho approval of very many swimming patrons would certainly sanction such outlay.— I am, etc., N. A. FODEN, Kelburne.
