A LEVY ON DRIVERS.
STRONG FEELING IN PALMERSTON (Ily Tclcerapli.—Spccial Correspondent.) Palmerston North, November 2S. The local drivers thi;; week received advice from the controlling union at Wellington that it, is intended to make n strike levy of 10s. on single men and 6s. oil married. The local drivers oil Thursday liight, at a largo meeting, discussed this levy, which they regarded as having been struck without eonsuiting them. Strong fooling pervaded in the meeting against responding to tho appeal, and it was resolved to call a. meeting for next Thursday to I'orm a I'altr.erston Drivers' Union and register under the Arbitration Act.
