Portion «f tho games arc to bo played on tho Brougham Hill Club's courts in lilo.vd Street, while other games will be played at the Wellington Club's courts in i'almer Street, Given lino weather this afternoon further progress will bo made with tho handicap events at Brougham Hill and another very forgo attendance should be recorded. The suspension <jf the usual intereltib ovout:; this season is considered in some quarters to be working to the advantage of many of the. chilis. Once the niter-club events were the best of tho different clubs' players used to he absent from their own courts a good deal, but the suspension of the usual tournament this -season is keeping club members together and «ivhii* the interior players better opportunity to improve. - '
Civil Seruica Tournament. On Monday morning the. Civil Service tournament will bo played ou the Newtown Club's courts at Constable Street. Some 50 players have entered, representing aboutVa dozen Departments. The events to be decided are: Ladies' Singles; and Doubles, and Men's Singles and Doubles. Separate trophies wilt bo given for every event, and the. points earned in the tournament by tho different .Departments will be added to their .points earned in other sports, the whole to bs aggregated for the Ward Challengo Trophy. Personal Paragraphs. G. Ollivjer, the c-x-Now Zealand champion, who is at present stationed in New Plymouth, is not likely to be ;i competitor at the New Zealand Championships at Auckland next mouth. Quito recently he strained his back rather badly and in conscquencc will have to take a good rest. U. N. K. Swauston, tho Now Zealand champion, is fast getting into form at Thorndon and will defend his title at Auckland next month, Tho Hon. F. M. li. Fisher will, it is understood, take part in the New Zealand Championships, but. as yet, he has been unable- to get any serious practice j this season. ' " j L. Hawkins, — Jennings, and 11. M. ' BuUenvortii, of Wanganui, are all reported as certain to be present at tho New Zealand fixture at Auckland, *so that altogether there will be somo excellent visiting tnlent to help tho meeting along.

At the annual meeting of tho King Country Lawn Tennis Association, held at Taiimaruniii last week, it was decided that in future all Howard Shield matches should bi> played at Taumarunui where three good asphalt courts are available.
