DRIFT OF THE DRIVERS.

'MORE SIGN ON TO THE NEW UNION. The old Drivers' Union is followiii"tlio trail of the old Waterside Workers' Union—httlo is now heard of it. To cemoalown to facts, ten of Keir's old men returned to,-work yesterday morning, and five of the old drivers of the Colonial Carrying Company—the first to return to this company—have applied to commence* work this morning, and stops were taken yesterdav to" make them members of tho now iinion. Mr. Sinclair, the secretary of the jicw union, says that ho now lias some 240 names on his books, and that tho list is swelling daily. Another week at the outsido would, he thought, see all the vacancies filled. As showing the. drift of the drivers, Mr. Sinclair said that out of '2& hands jiow working for Keir, 14 were members of the old union; out of 1G working for O'lirien, 7 wore old unionists; out of 25 working for Curtis, 17 are old unionists; and out of 30 workiii" for Munt, Cottrcll and Co., 12 belong to tho old body. Another 15 of the old hands are expected to return to their jobs to-day. These are only a- section of the drivers who work for tho big carrying firms. Thero aro many other employers who employ only two, three, or four drivers, whose employees have cither returned or their (daces are being gradually filled. The effect of tho return of a proportion of the men is that the builders aro able to. got thoir material io tho jobs, and as soon as the. building trado labourers return to work in forco matters will right themselves in that direction.
