A sensation has been caused by several experts declaring that the famous "Sistine Madonna" in the Dresden Museum —supposed to be an original Raphael (painted in 1518, and bought by the Elector Augustus 111 in 1734 from the Bcncd-ictino'Monastery at Piacenza) —is only a copy.
