The Federals, on attempting to recapture the town of Jaurez, taken from them by the Constitutionalists, were defeated. One thousand' were killed and seven hundred captured. Tht» rebels' losses were three hundred killed and two hundred' wounded. The Federal troops are retreating southward, disorganised. Sanguinary band-to-band lighting is proceeding. Thirty Federal volunteers were executed. * It is alleged that rebels stripped and dressed themselves in the uniforms'of dead Federals. The rebels blew up a train, sixty Federal soldiers being killed.
