KHANDALLAH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
WELCOME TO NEW PASTOR. The congregation of tho Khandallah Presbyterian Church met List evcniii"' to extend a welcome to their now pas" tor, the Rev. James dimming (and Sirs. Gumming), who lias answered a call to the charge from Southland, in place of the Itev. Robert Inglis, who has removed to Knox Church, I'arnoll. Tho Rev. ,T. Gibson Smith presided, and among those who also spoke were representatives from neighbouring churches, including tile Revs. J. Patei" Wilson, and Perrimaii. The- chairman, in welcoming Jlr. Gumming, referred io him as one of the foremost ministers in the Presbyterian Church, !»nl said that the Khaiidaikih congregation was exceedingly fortunate in having secured him as their minister. The Rev. J. Paterson spoke very flatteringly of -Mr. Gumming, also. Mr. J fteitii and Mr. David M'R.-io wclemned Mr, Gumming on behalf of tho Khandallali and Johnsonville congregations. Mr. Gumming said it was a big wrench to leave Southland, as he had been fifteen years in his last, charge, lie had been advised that there was an opening for him in the present call, and he felt in accepting it lie was doing so in the interests of the Church. During tho evening Mr. Paterson. of Khandallall. presented the Itev. J. Gibsou Smith, as moderator, with a handsome rug, hearing tho recipient's initials. The proceedings were onlivcned wiih songs by Messrs. M'Kie, Cameron, and Davidson, and the choir. Tln'.i evening the Revs. J. Gibson Smith and J. K. Elliott will induct Mr. Gumming into his now charge.
