At the annual general Hireling hold in I'alriii'i'stiin North on Monday, November J7, the following amendment was moved by Mr. J. Martin (a former Chairman of Directors) to'tlio motion ■from tlio chair, for tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet: "That tho rcjiort bo referred - back to the directors for a full statement of tho realisation iccoiintahd tho policy' said to he outiined by tlio Jatif chairman, also siviuc; the following particulars: (1) Amount of money received to date from sale of mouei ties and stock oy way of realisawhat 'amount is invested and .it what rate'of interest, to whom is it lent,"'and what is tlu> security? (:i) at what (late ia it intended to wind up the association, and what is the director:;' estimate of the amount per share which they anticipate will be paid?" In moving I his amendment Mr. Martin referred to the .Hoard ol..Directors as more liko a family council than anything else, lii, expressed the opinion •that in the best interests of shareholders the association should ho wound up at'the earliest .possible moment. . In reply the chairman stated that tho £o share should be worth £4, imd that tho.y expected to wind up the association; some.'time next year.. There was a .yuall attendance o! shareholders and tho amendment was negatived.
LIVE STOCK SALES. Messrs. DfllßGty and Company, Limited, report having held their monthly sale at their Otaki yards ou Tuesday. There ivas a heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle. At th» end ot tho day practically every line subiffrtted was disposed of under the hammer. Tho bidding all through was good, and specially keen competition tool; place for any decent lines of 'two-tooUi wethers offered. The tone of the cattle market, was also very sound, cLore cows, yearling heifers, and etecrs allbeiug weir competed for.
