"FIRMNESS AND TACT." ( (By 'JMesraph.—Pnss Association.) Marlon, November 2(5. At the Rnngitikei Coimtv Council's meeting to-day it was resolved :—- "That this council wishes to heartily cangraiiilate the Government on ih'o firmness and tact, displayed during tho present serious outbreak of anarchy in the leading purls of the. Dominion,'and trusts that they will continue to exercise the same nice pressure, of control until the country is again blessed with industrial peace." Thoro was only one dissentient. It was also resolved unatiimauslv: "That this council wishes to protest in the strongest manner possible against Mr. Tregear's action, as reported in thn_ Press, in libelling those publicspirited men who at great inconvenience and risk to themselves went to Wellington to maintain law and order; we also consider th«t under the circunisUmcxvi he is not a lit and proper person to hold a J.P.-ship, and that his name should be. struck oil' tho list." Copies of the resolutions will be forwarded io the Government.
