Marriage in St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral. Tho marriage took place in St, Paul's Pro-Cathedral on Tuesday of Miss Dorothy Lever, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Lover, of AVellington, to Mr. Stronach Paterson, of Dunedin. Tho ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. M. Johnson, M.A., and only the immediate relatives of tho bride and bridegroom were present. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin with panniers of brocade, caught up with a large water lily. Tho bodico was draped with shadow-lace, veiled with ninon, and she wore a loifg.tullo veil with a coronet of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of white rosos, carnations, and sweet peas. Miss Loma Lever attended her sister as bridesmaid, and wore a gown of white accordoon-pleated ninon, trimmed with Irish crochet, and a large white tagel hat swathed with tulle. Sho carried a bouquot of pink roses and sweet peas. Mr. Rutherford Paterson, brother of tho bridegroom, was the best man. Mrs. Lever wore a gown of soft black satin and a black hat with ostrich feathers. Miss Paterson, the bridegroom's sister, was in a gown of white satin, veiled with black ninon, relieved with touches of royal blue, and a golden brown tagel hat, trimmed with blue and brown ostrich feathers, Mrs. George Nathan (sister of the bride) wore- white embroidered voile, and a largo black hattrimmed 'with tulle. Miss lluth Lever was in a frock of white silk voile, with a large white-■hat'of tho same material, with touches of black velet. The .bride's present from tho bridegroom was a set of beautiful white fox furs. Mrs. Paterson travelled in a white cloth costume finely striped with black, with which was worn a largo white tagel hat with ostrich feathers. Tho bouquets for tho wedding were mado by Miss Murray, Willis Street.
I Wedding at Island Bay. Tho marriago took place in St. Hilda's Church, Island Bay, on Monday, I of Miss Grace Glover, of Nelson, to Mr. Albert Dunkloy, late of The Dominion staff, and now of tho Ohristchurch "Press." The ceremony was performed by tho Rev. C. W. I. Maclaveriy, and Mrs. Hill played the organ. Tho bride, who was given away by her unclo, Mr. T. Glover, wore a gown of white embroidery over satin, and carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. Her cousin, Miss A. Oliver, attended her as bridesmaid, and Mr. 11. PetriOj of Christclmrch, was the best man.' Alter tho wedding ceremony a, reception was held at tho residenco of Mrs. Shaw, Clyde Street, Island Bay, many guests being present. Later in the afternoon the britlo and bridegroom left en route for their futuro home in Christchurch,
A Naplor wedding. A pretty wedding took place in tho Roman Catholic Church, New Plymouth, recently, when Miss Lily Smith, "seconil daughter of Mr. Walter Smith, of Devon Street, was married to Mr. Charles Austin, fourth son of Mr. Fred. Austin, New Plymouth. The officiating priest was the Rev. Deon M'Kcnna. Tho Wedding March was played by tho Rev. Fathor Kohoc. Tlio brido wore a gown of white satin, trimmed with lace and pearl beads, and a veil with orahgb blossoms. Sho carried a pretty shower bouquot of whito roses, lilies of tho valley, and maiden-hair ferns. Tho bridesmaids wore Miss Emma Smith (chief) and Miss . Gertrude Austin,/ Both wore silk dresses trimmed . with lace, and black picture hats. Mr. K. Brennan, of Opunake, was tho host man. Tho bridegroom's present to tho brido was a silver,tea and coffeo service, and to tho bridesmaids gold brooches.
Mrs. Clement Kirk left Wellington yostorday. by tlio Mapourika for Kelson. Mr. Gilchrist will give a lecture at the Wellington Girls' College on Saturday evening next upon tho "Evolution of Japan." Somo interesting limelight views will illustrate tho lecturo. Mrs. and Miss Mandor intent! returning to Auckland to-day. Miss M. Mackorras (Dunedin) is tho guest of Mrs. Gray, Kclburnc. Miss F. M. Morris and Miss Gobcroft (Sydney) are staying at tho Grand Hotel. Mrs. Williams, who was a passenger from England by tho Arawa, is staying at the Grand Hotel.
Tho Girls' Realm Guild is holding an "at homo" in tho Esperanto Hall on Saturday afternoon from three to sis. An onjoyablo musical programme has been arranged, and there will be a sale of streets and flowers. Mr. and Mrs. George Land and Miss Land aro expected to return to Hastings about the middle of next month from their visit to England and the Continent.. . - Dr. and Mrs. Fitchett, who have been staying at Caulfiold House, aro now at Babington Houso, Seatoun, where they propose staying for the summer months.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Armitage, ■ of Honolulu, who havo been spending some timo in Auckland, left on Saturday by tho Mamma on their return journey. Miss Elsie Nicolas, a, protege of Mrs. Hugh Ward, of Sydney, who lately played tho part of Gennainc in "Los Cloches do Corneville" in Gisborne, has been engaged as principal girl by the Royal Pantomiino Co., and will play tlio rolo of 80-Peep in the pantomime of that name throughout tho remainder of the year.
Tho late Mrs. C. Rose - , of Albert Street, Pahiatua, who died on Monday, had been a resident of the Dominion for fifty-two years, having arrived in Now Zealand with her husband, who predeceased her many years ago. Sho is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clemens, of Pukehinau.
