CHRISTCHIJRCM OPEN. (By Tclosraah.-Press Association.) , - Cfiristchurch, November 25 bquads of specials patrol the streets ot the port. They are continually on the move, but there was no sign of excitement up to the noon lunch time Jhe president of tho strikers says the men are taking tho position calmlv. The ambulance men. in tho port report no cases, not even accidents. I he hotels were closed simultaneously with tho arrival of the specials. . \ camp for tho horsemen has not been ixed .vet; there are temporary horse lines outside the Union Steamship Company's office. The specials are dining in the Coronation Hall, and the footmen sleep in the Harbour Board's shed. Uepresentalives of the licensed victuallers interviewed tho Mayor of Cliristrliurcli, aiul protested against the closing of the city hotels, as suggested by the Strike Committee. They' pointed out- that no disorders had occurred, mid that no drunkenness was visible. The Mayor-said that nothing had occurred in warrant tlw closing , of the hotels. He. hoped the licensees would do their j utmost. to prevent drunkenness.
