KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL
Tho fortnightly meeting' of tho Karon lioroujjh Council was held last evening. Those present were; The Mayor (Mr. C. C'athiol, and Councillors Henderson, Doyes,. fiuni, Bradnock, Cimiuo, Skogg, and Hamilton. li\ reply to tho council's letter in reference to the 1.2 p.m. tram from Courteriay Placo on Saturday, tho Tramway Department wrote intimating that tho car would be discontinued on and after Saturday, November 22. Tho borough, engineer (Mr. C. W, Brigham) reported that now the muchdelayed cemcivt had arrived- a commencement had been made oil November 20 to put iin the concrete- in '.ho foundation of tho Makara Hill breakwind. About a chain and a. quarter had been completed. He. expected to have tho work completed in a fortnight's time, fit tho present rate of going. While tho moil were not engage-;! on tho 'hroalcviiul work tlicy were- engaged' in quarrying. The application of llio.Karoci Amateur Athletic Club for the use of the park to-day was granted. The .Motor Cyclo Club made application for the use of the western side of the park on Saturday, November 29.— Granted. On tho recommendation of tho Works. Committee it was decided to instruct the borough engineer to lay some Pin. pipes and' form a crossing for a -ratepayer. It was also derided- to lay <1 house drain for Sir. Xicholis in Wallace Street, the owner of tho house to pay tiie cost- of the same. Tho council then went into committee.
