Marriage at Fairlie. TJio marriago took plaeo in St. Stephen's Church, Fairlie, last week of Alias Ivy L. Bray, eldest daughter of Mr. John Bray, of Langclon, Cricklewood, to Mr. William Olsen, of tho North Island. The Rev. H. Roberts performed the ceremony. Tho bride, who was given away by lior father, wore a gown of ivory satin, and veil caught in with orange blossoms. Miss Rosie and Miss Daisy Bray (sisters of tho bride) were bridesmaids, and woro pretty frocks of cream charmeuse, with mob laco caps. They carried bouquets of lilies, clematis, and maiden-hair fern. Mr. A. 'Olsen, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man, and Mr. Albert Johnson the groomsman. There were, in addition, two little flower girls, Miss Adkins and Miss Ivy boultou; and two pages, Masters Gordon Bray and Ellis Bray. The flower rrirla were in white silk frocks, and tho boys in sailor suits. After the- ceremony a reception ; was held at Cricldowood, tho brido's late homo, and later in tho day the bride and bridegroom loft for. Timaru en route for their future home.' Tho former travelled in a navy bliao coat and -skirt and largo white hat; Farewell Bridge Afternoon. Yesterday afternoon at her residence, Kelburnc, Mrs. Jeffreys, gave a farewellbridge afternoon for Mrs. Hervcy,. who is leaving for Auckland on Thursday. The drawing-room was decorated, -with pink and white sweet peas and with dark red carnations. Tho hostess wore a- gown of" cliampagne-cftlotired silk . trimmed with heavy crochet lace of the -same colour, , and Mrs. Harvey was in grey orepe braided with black. Amongthose present were; Mcsdames Kreeft, Bollard, Muir, Lyons, Sievwriglit, Hamilton, Overton-Smith, Burton, Leslie, Miss Reading and Miss Watson. Mrs. Reeves was the prize-winner. Mrs. Lauronson ami her family left Wellington for the south on Monday. , Lady Ward and Miss Eileen Ward returned to Wellington yesterday from Christchurcli. ... The marriage of Miss Daisy Logan to Mr. Bowden-Smith will take placo in Wellington on December !>. ■ Miss Kathleen Millar leaves Wellington on Friday on a visit to Auckland.' Mrs. H. Barnett (Ohristcliurbh) is ex.poctedi'to arrive in Wellington at the end of the week. ..Miss Speed is staying at "Balmoral" till Friday, when she leaves for Ivckerangu (Nelson),.and later,for Picton. . Mrs. Ponsonby was tho hostess at a very enjoyable tea which was given in Miss Tendall's tea rooms yesterday afternoon. Higginson has been appointed matron of flio Wairo'a Hospital. Until lately Miss Higginson, with Miss L. M. Cooper, conducted a private hospital in Napier: Miss King, of Auckland, lias been appointed to the narsing staff. Tito Rev. J. W. and' Mrs. Burton have returned to New Plymouth after a motor cycle . and side-car trip to Auckland. Mr. Burton told.a "News" representative that they were delighted ' with this form of travelling. Leaving New Plymouth in fine weather (with which they wero favoured all through), thoy motored to Napier, via the Manawatu Gorge, from Napier to Tauno, wiicre they spent some tiros among tho wonders of the thermal regions, on from Tanpo to Rotorua, and thenen to Auckland.
