(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunedin, November 25. During the hearing of tho Otago slaughtermen's case 'in tho Arbitration Court, the president (Mr. Justice' Sim) asked: Why did you cancel your registration? Mr. Haymes: In loyalty to-the Federation. Tho President: In order that jou tnight strike with impunity? Mr. Haymes: We had nothing to do with that j we .wore only a branch. The President: What' was the object your cancelling? It looks as if,you simply wanted to play fast and loose ivith arbitration. Mr. Haymes: We merely complied mil instructions from the headquarters of tho Federation out of loyalty.' _ Mr. Haymes submitted that the Reghad exceeded his powers by registering tho union. - Tho Federation embraced all slaughtermen, and the new union was merely for Dunedin. The President held that the new agreement was bona fide, and tho Court struck out tho application.
