IN order to conserve coal, and thus render oertain a continuous aud ample supply of gas until tho present labour difficulties are ended, the Company desires to intimato that, at considerable expense to themselves, they are utilising oil in the manufacture of a portion of the gas supplied. ■ The gas so supplied is equal in illuminating and heating effect to' all coal gas, but for proper combustion requires a less volunio of air. ' Consumers having difficulty through the gas "lighting back" are therefor© Advised to reduce the air supply to their cookers' or other burners, wnen the' difficulty will be at once removed. In. cases where consumers -are unable to make the requisite adjustment they are requested to communicate without delay either with the Complaints Office (Telephone No. 155) or by postcard, and their requirements will receive prompt attention. Tho Company further desires to intimate that adequate provision has been made to maintain an uninterrupted gas supply, but while giving this assurance, they would earnestly solicit the forbearance of consumers in any little inconveniences that may arise from the extraordinary conditions now prevailing.
