MATCHES AT TRENTHAM. Members of tlio Highland Rifle Club, tlio ; Wellington Garrison Staff Club, Karori Rifle Club, and a team from H.M.S. Ps.ycho were the only representatives of tlio "Wellington shooting men on the Trentham rifle range on Saturday afternoon. Tlio Staff Club and the men of the Psyche engaged, in a teams' match. Trophy shooting (Wednesday and Saturday squad), at ranges 600 and 800 yards, ten shots, for trophies presented by W. F. Hornig and Co., Messrs. T. Archibald, H. R. Hunt, and Mrs. J. P. Luke. The best score on Wednesday was by J. L. Turner, with 87 (47 at 800 yds.). On Saturday the best score for the day were by C. J. Fisher and H. Boon, with 89 a-piece. .'lie targets in use at 800 yds. are six feet square, with the ordinary size bull's-eye. The weather conditions on Saturday were very changeable. The wind was " a "left-roar," and competitors had to raise their elevation hve degrees above normal. A special prize of a liam was presented for this match by Mr. Preston, butcher, of Willis Street, and was won by C. P. Fisher, who beat H. Boon on. the count-back. Next Wednesday and Saturday tho second match in tho second series will be fired at ranges 500, 600, and 800 yards j a seven-shot match. The figure-target will bo used at 500 aud 600 yards. Scores:
