bers of tho now union. Somo of tho menjiave been paid as much as £6 18s. fid. for a week's work. In some instances as much as £1 4s. Od, has been earned in one day, and los. to 18s. per day have beon common. Tboro is not an instance in which anything so low as the guaranteed wage of £2 10s. per week has beon drawn. A perusal of the wages books discloses the. fact that the average ivago paid to Arbitrationists for tlio week ending November lii was about £3 is. Gd. per man. Some of tho men, however, did not draw a full week's wage, and with tho object of obtaining iuiormation regarding tho wages paid to members of tho new union for the week ending November 15, a reporter was given an opportunity to inspect the books. Taking only some of the pages at- random, the following facts were at once visible: — Thirteen men drew from £6 and up to £G 18s. 9d. for the week's work. Eleven men received from £5 to £5 14s. Eight men received from £4 to £4 13s. Gd. Twelve men received from £3 to £3 18s. 4d. These figures do not represent the number of men who actually received the above wages, as there were hundreds more whd were paid similar amounts. It was, moreover, stated by a prominent official yesterday that last week's wages will m somo eases eclipse those earned up till November 15. In one or two instances as much as £7 and over has been earned by Arbitrationists.
