Sill providing for tho transfer of Norfolk Island to the Com-, inonwealtli. The measure' includes a clause prohibiting tho manufacture, importation, or sale of alcoholic liquors; an amendment in favour of .taking a local option poll of the residents was moved. Mr, Glynn, Minister for External Affairs, asked the Committee to negative tho amended clause, as at present tho sal© of liquor in the island was for medicinal purposes only, and in the 'hands of tho mission and magistrates. If the amended clause wore carried it might Wot the peace aal harmony a-f tho inhabitants, Tho amended clause was rejected and a new clause, prohibiting the manufacture of liquor, inserted.
