CURATE'S LIBEL ACTION.
JUDGE REVIEWS THE ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT.. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright London, November 21. In the libel action instituted by tho Rev. Thomas Ghent, curate of St. Andrew's, Stockwell, against one Fitzgerald, of Clapham, a police sergeant, who went to tho parish vostry and alleged that Mr. Ghent had committed misconduct with his (Fitzgerald's) wifo (an active church workor), Ghent claimed that tho case was of paramount importance to professional'men, such' as doctors and clergy, having to visit women, somotimos in their bedrooms. The Judge's summing up occupied four hours. His Lordship emphasised tho fact that Ghent had written 110 objectionable letters and that there was not a singlo circu'mstanco reflecting on him. Ho had lived a happy moral life. His Lordship added that there was no evidence of blackmailing on the part of Fitzgerald. Apparently one juryman dissented from tho rest.
