Dr. Spencer Beard, of Masterton, at present in England, returns home by the Tainui 011 November 6. Mr. J. Wright, of Christohurch, has eq-nm to this country on business, and will probably remain until next August. Mr. Duncan Cameron, of Oamaru, who has been on a visit to this country, "returns to New Zealand this week by the Macedonia-. Mr. a.nd Mrs. Wilfrid Goulson, cf Christchureh, who are paying a visit to this country, are staying at Bolsize Park Gardens, Hampstead. . Among the passengers leaving for Australia ou October 24 by "the Orient liner Orsova are the Bishop of Christchureh., tho Bishop of Adelaide, and Mr, Dugald Thomson. Forty-five domestic servants left for New Zealand by tho Arawa last week, under the charge of Nurse Minnall, who goes out to join tho staff of the Auckland Hospital.- and Nurse B.atlifF, who also intends to scitlo in tho Dominion, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wilson, of Auckland, came via Canada and America, and havo since been motoring through the United Kingdom, i.ll company with. Miss La Roche, of Auckland (Mrs. Wilson's sister). ' Tlvey return homo by tho Koni-ngen Lui-so on. October 27. Major T. W. M'Donald, of tho New Zealand Staff Corps, who has boon over hero for a course of training, and who greatly distinguished himselfhis examinations, returns to Auckland by the. Orsova 0.11 October 24. Ho is accompanied by his wife and children. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Jones, of Canterbury, arrived in this country last month after spending ten months in Canada and the United States en route. They intend going to Somersetshire for the hunting season nest month, and later 011 purpose taking aft extensive tour 011 tho Continent.
011 October 14, at the Lyceum Club, 3lr. slae.ken.zie, High Commissioner for Now Zealand, gave an interesting address, illustrated by lantern slides, on New Zealand birds. A vote of thanks to Mr. Mackenzie was proposed ,by Miss Margaret Baxter, and seconded by Mrs, Henry May. Amongst visitors who havo been touring the British Isles by motor lately are Mr. and Mrs. Perry (N.Z.), and Mr. and Mrs. Hessoy, of Masterton (N.Z.), who aro also_ motoring on the Continent. The latter intend to join one of the Orient steamers at a Continental port on the way home by the end- of November.
Mr. Harold B. Lusk, Christohureh, who has been sent from Christ's College-, Christohurch, tmder a scheme for the Imperial Exchango of Teachers, arrived i.n. England in' September, He is at present at Rugby, where ho will re-. fflai.ii for a year, and then prrhapx go to. Cliftan. Mr, Lusk'a address is 37 Clifton Road, Rugby. Mr. Stanley "Ui-iwm, who has been travelling in Australia and Neiv Zealand, left Sydney in August for the Far East by way of New ■ Guinea, tho Carolines, and tho Philippines to Hong Kong. Ho expects to bo back in England for Christmas, and meanwhile, in a letter to Mr, Marston, tho editor of tho "Publishers' Circular," recommends to him New Zealand fi.shi.ng. assuring him .that he would thoroughly enjoy a trip.' 1 Mr. H. C. Moses, of Auckland, has just .completed a motor tour of Great Britain and Ireland. 'Ho leaves for Sen- _ York this month, accompanied , by his' mother and sister, and returns to New.
