A MEAN SUGGESTION.

Sir,—Would you please publish the following for the. information of the general public of this city? lam ono of the organisers of tiro new Waterside Workers' Arbitration Union, and this afternoon, in Buckle- Street, met one <i! tho old workers and was talking to him about coming back again to work, which life will very soon do. Now, two other men came- oil the scene and began. to tell me that tho now union woiiid not go. That I did not mind, but they went oh to say that tho old Waterside TJnion had takoii up a "lift," that is a collection, to bury my friend. To the passerby it. would, if the statement wet# true, seem very strange that I should now act as organiser of another union. • But tho statement is .not true. Bote.is the correct story: One of tli6 waterside workers named Mr. Mtimeiioy, of 216 a Cuba Street, djod in tlio City Hospital, and Mr. Pari land., secretary of tlio old Waterside Union, sent a telephone message through.the Y.M.C.A. telephone for mo to make all arrangements to bury the itiaii and that ho would take up a substantial "lift" or collection, and pay all the expenses, which to this day lie has lio-t done. Now, sir s if that worker who was so bravo i.u Buckle Street with lik tongue to-day will pleaso lie careful what he says in misrepresenting tho caso of out dead, brother lie might save someone, a lot.of boiher. Tho man died in April last and I only saw him three times in my life. I was not even well acquainted with him, As tlio mail ill Buckle Street who attempted to slander nio was not man enough to tell his name .to the. people who overheard Ms remark., perhaps he will cpiiie forward now and do so, Now. who are yon, and who is your tall friend ? 1 know there is no lio as bad as tho on© with half the truth ill it,, —I am, etc., THOMAS MOODY. .[Wc happen to knew something of tho matter hero raised. Tho conduct of Mr. Moody was much to his credit-, while the action of the old .Waterside Workers' Union Was quite tlio reverse.]
