On- Wednesday morning three members of tlie. equine family wore seen to walk into the harbour at Matapihi Beach. Getting into .the deep water, they swam for a while smith:. ward with the tide. Seemingly guided by tlie bright- grten Elopes in the- vicinity of the iniiter factory, thoy changed tlieir course to duo west, and _ eventually landed on Tauraiiga side, ■ iii quite a complacent manner.. They had swam a distance equal to the width of the harbour at its widest part. Two kept close company throughout, but the third was evidently not so certain that "the promised land" was not hallucination until its felloW-creatwcs were high and dry, when its efforts were palpably increased. ■
