THE I.W.W. IN AUSTRALIA.

.. Tho following loltor by ' 'Pro Bono Puh- . lira," appeared in tho "Sydney Mo-rn-iiig Herald" of November 10:— L "Your justly severe criticism of the i above fanatic in last Friday's issue should bo valuablo as an. cy<Mipencr to tho few misguided enthtisiajits'ihat a.ro howling for the. scalps of the capital' ists. Their attitude and tactics are dangerous hi the extreme to the workers themselves. What they call 'sabotago' is 'spite' under a foreign name, and spite never did any class or party any good. As you say. they arc few in numbers in tho unions., but they are active, and their follow unionists perhaps do not realise what their game is. Their strike tactics ajivays lead to riot and the use of force, A dangerous feature of their constitution is the Way thoy safeguard themselves from any influx ■ of superior ability into their ranks; for 1 'no man who holds any official position ' in a trades union is eligible for membership in the I.W.W. If any of its 1 members accept an official postiioi) in a trades union they cannot continue 1 as members of the I.W.W.' This effectually keeps tho game in the hands of those who are determined to war on society, and who are prepared to carry it out by the most unscrupulous, methods. In conclusion, your criticism of the I.W.W. is seasonable, and wo may anticipate that at an early day sonic activity should be fortticotniug from those most interested to cope with tbo misguided and 'sabotage'-loving nicm- ' bers of tho 1.W.W." 'A' now Wharf Labourers' Union has j been formed at Oamaru, under tho Arbitration Act, and will bo registered forthwith. A number of the old union havo expressed their intention of join-. ing ns soon as it is ieKi.ste.red.—Frees Association. ' .!
