It. began in a small way, and has grown to' such an extent that to serve tea, etc., to oil© thousand "specials" is an <vvery-day occurrence. while tho guild itself takes, a day or two each week, its president , arranged with numbers of women in the city to each get their band of helpers • and take a day for the "specials."' Con, " sequently every day has been quickly filled up for weeks ahead,, 50 great has been tho response. Lest the sweethearts, mothers, and wives of the good men who so nobly came forward to defend us from the enemy within, should have any anxiety ■■on tho subject; I should like to say the womon or Wellington regard ~ the little tlioy can do as indeed ;l privilege, and I should further like them to know that tho. general feeling hero is we cannot do enough to show our appreciation. Down in K Shed ottr "Bhift" was on last week, and the 48 loaves of bread and th<3 19 pounds, of butter that wero (juiekly out oap for sandwichcs by willing helpers is but a samplo of what is taking place thero daily. We wero father disappointed' when we found we had to wait a wholo week boforo our day came round again, every day filled by women who recognisethoir obligation and duty as' citizens. Tho food is good in IC Shed, and the tea always freshly madft, and although wo eannot_ give everyone a serviette, tlio meal time passes merrily, and while we are doing our little down here for the men we feel we owe much to the wives, mothers, and sisters they have left behind them.
