The "Vossische, Zeitung" publishes an amusing Illustration of the Kaiser's business habits in connection' with a smqll cafe and restaurant 'crectqu! by him near the historic mill of Sans Souci at Potsdam. .The former restaurant was removed to improve the gardens, but tho .Kaiser, on the protest of the Potsdauiers, had a new restaurant built near, tenting it to tlio former steward of his domestic- staff. In the letter of 'appointment the Kaiser wrote:— "My dear Mr, jMoritz.-MToii shall' only pay the sina.il yearly rent o.f £300, but if tlie cafe proves popular and paying we can later raise the rent, somewhat, so that I may -make a somewhat bigger profit. "I have on© condition—.von must serve the best coffee in Potsdam and the neighbourhood.". Tlie Kaiser during bis morning walks round Potsdam regularly turns into his own caf<j.«to get a glass of -sherry and. biscuits,' and equally regularly " asks how business goes.
