-— —-«■■■■■ _ <■ ■■ At a meeting of the Hawke's Bay River Board yesterday a letter was received from tho Hutt Riyor Board protesting against the River Board Amendment Bill, tho principal clause objected to being that providing for cgmpafsbry differential rating.' The board endorsed the protest, and passed a resolution asking the Government to submit tho Bill to all river boards before passing the same, and not to deal witji it this session. Mr. Alfred Dillon, who underwent a serious operation sobm> days ago was in a very serious condition, show- , ed signs of improvement yesterday, ■ and-the doctors aro pleased with big progress. At a meeting of tho T.M.O.A. Board's directors the following officers ■ were elected:—President, Mr, -J.: Holdsworth j vice-presidents, ' Messrs. T. Tanner and W. T.
