Wedding at Featherston, At the Presbyterian Church, Featherston, yesterday afterisoon the marriage took place of Miss Lilta May Boi land, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Boland, of Napier, to Mr. Ernest Edward Elley, youngest Soil of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Elley, of Masterton. ' The ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. K. Stowell. The bride, who was given away by Mr. James Crawford, wore a very pretty dress of embroidered voile, with a. veil and orange blossoms.' SIIO carried a bouquet of white roses. Tho bridesmaid was Miss Ruby Boland (sister of the bride), who wore a dress of embroidered voile, and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Mr. H. B. Ciwillinm was best man. After the ceremony the bridal party and a large number of guests were entertainea by Mr. Oraw- * ford at a wedding breakfast, which was served in the supper-room of the Town Hall. Mr. and Airs. Elley left by the afternoon train for Wellington, whew tilio 'honeymoon will be spent. Their fu» ture home will be in Featherston. • Wellington Rose and Carnation Club's Show. Although the season lias not been altogether favourable to s roses, there were some beautiful specimens to be seen yesterday afternoon, when the Wellington Hose and Carnation Club opened their Rose Show lin the Town Hall. In addition to the roses there .were quantities of other flowers, although pride of place was given to the former, and the large chamber of the Town Hall was certainly tho most advantageous place in which to view them, as more space could be given to securing a fine general eSeqt. The stands of flowering pot plants, placed chiefly in the centre of the room, were extremely beautiful, and had beeft arranged, with discrimination as to colour, effects. Carnations ma do an appearanco. there, but it was still rather early far them to be seen at their best. Con" ■ spicuous _ among them iVero three or four specimens with large whito petals, •striped wiMi wide, vividly pink stripes that gave'an appearance of irresistible; '"perkiness" and freshness. Further on was k table of pansies with lovely colour combinations; one of a mauve shade that faded into • pale lavender in the centre, and was marked with wavey lines of brown and black. Some beautiful clematis was to be seen, great wide lavender-coloured flowers, owning tho name of William Kennett, while side by side with them was another flower ofthe same family, but of a deep, dark red. -The champion rose, "Caroline 1 * .Testout," was a constant centre of atI traction during tho afternoon. It was very large, and beautifully-formed with ' petals of a rather pale pink shade. The decorated tables wore another source of - great interest, and some delicate colour harmonies wore observable. One arranged with Namaqua daisies, grass, ; and Tritomo was strikingly effective, the deep; tangerine of the flowers almost flaming with colour. Her Excellency tho Countess of Liverpool accompanied His Excellency the Governor, and wore a gown of deep mauvo oharmeuse, with | a kilted skirt, over which was worn i ,a tunio of grey ninon, with cream lace J vost. Worn with this was a wide straw \ hat. trimmed with lace and black tullo, 5 with a touch of pink. Yesterday the members of the Victoria League supplied refreshments at IK shed. King's Wharf, for the special constables, and were kept very busy during tho greater part of the day. In tho afternoon Mrs. Massey paid a visit to the shed, and wa3 warmly welcomed, tho "specials" greeting lief with three very nearty cheers. The ladies of the league were also accorded cheers for their hospitality. The Victoria League will again take charge of the K shed on Saturday week if the strike still continues. Every day during tho coming week has been arranged .for in the matter of supplying top, and refreshments generally. Mrs. Rolleston advises ftuly readers to save every strand of their nail-.
