WORK TO STOP.
ON HAEBOUE BOAEJ/CONTBACTS. Among those who are likely to bo seriously affected.by tho strike are Messrs. Donald M'Lean and Co., contractors for two of the Harbour Board works now in progress. For soveial months past contractors dealing in Australian hardwood have had difficulty in getting delivery of consignments in Wellington and other New Zealand ports, but with the strike on the conditions are naturally much'less favourable. Mr. -Donald M'Lean states that lie recently made a «trip to Sydney specially to expedite- the shipment of 'hardwood timber for the firm's contracts in New Zealand. Ho was successful in getting one lot shipped on the Maheno for Auckland, but on account of the striko it was taken back to Sydney, and for all that he knew was still in "the intercolonial service." The position was serious as far as the Jervois Quay staging and the new ferry wharf were concerned. If no timber arrived from Sydney within the next few days, he would have to-stop work on both jobs during the next week. -\
With music, song and story tho mounted specials at tho Buckle Street Barracks aro being entertained nightly.
