PATEENA IN STORM.

ROUGH TRIP FROM LVTTELTON. Shortly before 2 p.m. yesterday the Union Company's temporary ferry steamer Pateena berthed at the Queen's Wharf after a stormy voyage from Lytr ielton. The vessel left the southern port at 6.30 p.m. on Monday night, and soon after, leaving encountered a heavy head sea. As she progressed up tho coast the weather conditions became worso, and, owing to bad coal, made only slow progress. The firemen, however, stuck to their work, and fed tihe fires to the best of their ability. Several seas came on board, but ho damage is reported. One sea washed the deck for'ard and flooded tlur seamen's quarters in the forecastle. The voyage .occupied about twenty hours. Some of the firemen came ashore after arrival, but the vacancies were soon filled, and tho vessel left for tho south at 8.5 p.m. yesterday.
