AID TO STRIKERS.
MINERS NOT UNANIMOUS. (By Teleernph.—Press Association.) Thames-, November 17. There is some division amongst the members of the Thames Slitters' Union regarding the attitude towards the strike. The Itarangahake branch has always entertained friendly feeling towards the Federation of Labour, while the Thames and other branches strongly uphold tho principle of settlement of disputes by arbitration only. Tho recent agreement was * entered into by mutual consent without tho Intervention of any Court. Tho Karangahake branch passed a motion recommending the executive to vote £100 towards tho strikers. The' executive finds tho rules forbid this: such appropriation can only be made after a secret ballot of the whole union had declared in. favour.
