NOT HEEDED BY CARPENTERS.
A very large attendance was recorded at a meeting of tko Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners held at tho Trades Hall on Saturday afternoon. Tho large- meeting-hall was so packed that a lew of the late-cotnors preferred to wait outside.
No official report "of the meeting was supplied to tho Press, but it was learned tin reliable authority that the Bieeting had declined to heed tho United Federation of Labour's call for a general strike. Indeed, a motion to "down tools" was not oven seconded. Tho society decided to donate £100 to the strike fvmd, and also invited Voluntary contributions. It Was also resolved to vote the siim of £20 to the Dublin Strike Relief Fund, The assessors, who had represented the soecioty on tho Conciliation Council recently, when an agreement was arrived at with tho employers, furjrislrod af report to the meeting. The report was adopted, and the assessors were thanked for their valuable services.
