LETTER BY MR. JOE GET.
FOR THE CHINESE. THAT DREAM OF BROTHERHOOD. The following epistle on the 'fruit boycott, question from one of the leading Chinese'of Wellington will be read with interest by the public, particularly by those with a knowledge ' of the markets and their' ways :— (To the Editor.) "Sir,—l write this on behalf of the Chinese, who havo appointed mo to so act. A week has flown away since the boycott of the Willochra's fruit by the Chinese at tho instigation of stricken Federation. Monday night last our representatives met,the Striko Committee at the \ Chinese Association, Tory Street, and a very cheerful demeanour 'was ; shown at the meeting by both parties, our people being spoken of as brothers in very friendly, tones. We gave the Strike Committee the latitude of i seven days' grace, so as not to causo any trouble, and the only fruit bought was for in- ■ valid cases. This the committee very kindly allowed, and called us brothers again, but the seven days on Monday will bo up, and then all available fruit for sale will be eagerly snapped up. , Will the strikers again call us brothers, or I will they call - us ? "We sincerely hope that both parties will soon come to a settlement, which will be for the benefit not only for the Dominion, but also for foreign places.—l am, etc., "W. J. GET." [Mr. Joe pet's letter is dated November 14, and is superscribed by the words "Tho timid Chinese difficulty is now over."]
