DRIVERS RESUMING WORK.
NEW UNION FORMED. A meeting of drivers was held in the Masonic Hall, Boulcott Street, last evening, with tho object of forming a new union. Mr. A. Moore, one cf the drivers who refused to go on strike, presided. A number of the drivers on stnko wore present when the meeting opened, but when the chairman asked thoso who did not wish to join the new union to-withdraw most nf these men di dso. tween thirty and forty drivers, members of the old union, were at -work yesterday, and it is expected that about a hundred will he at work to-clav. Employers of driven also held a 'meeting last evening, and one of their number stated afterwards that they were definitely pledged to stand hv tho new union and its members.
A meeting of the original Drivers' Union is to ho held in St. Peter's Schoolroom, Ghuznoe Street, at 10 a.m. to-day. It is reported that a proposal will ho put forward to take a secret ballot on tho question of returning to work.
Tho secretary of the ol Union (Mr. A. Parlano) yesterday received tho following telegram from Mr. G. Davis (secretary of the Auckland Drivers' Union):—"Auckland drivers solid. Meeting to-day advised Wellington to stand firm; victory in view." The message 'was dispatched at 2.55 p.m. yesterday.
