STRIKERS PROTEST.

MNOYED BY THE "SPECIALS." Auckland, November 12. The following resolution was passed at a meeting of tho Strike Executive today:—"Tho Central Executivo requests tho various unions to soriously consider tho following recommendation, namely: —'That in tho event of the present industrial strife not being settled by midnight on Thursday, November 13, all unions take the necessary steps to cancel their registration under tho Arbitration and Conciliation Act."'

Complaints have been mado by the strikers as to the conduct of some special constables, and the matter has been laid before Superintendent Kiely, who has undertaken to givo it his attention.

The following is a copy of a letter forwarded on behalf of the Central Strike Committee at Auckland to Sir Joseph Ward: —"Sir, —l have been directed by the Auckland Strike Committee to write you drawing your attention to the following facts regarding tho behaviour of special police stationed in this city. It was understood when these 'specials' were introduced here that it was done for reasons set out hereunder, viz., for the protection of life, property, and free labour. They have now, however, taken up a now role, and are to be seen walking about in twos and threes, swinging large batons and adopting otlior inciting tactics suoh as jostling pedestrians, whether connected with the strike or otherwise. Evidently this is dono with a viow of causing resentment, so that a breacli of the peace may eventuate." Other allegations aro hero made, and the letter concludes:—"Now, sir, what the committee ask is that the 'specials' be confined to their duties on the respective wharves, or else be utilised as escorts for voliicles, but that they bo not allowed the freedom of this city and suburbs, to inditlgo in the boliaviour they havo already been guilty of. Tho committee trust you will ventilate this matter from tho floor of tho House. (Signed), Curran, Secretary Central Strike Committee."
