"DEMONSTRATION" IN WESTPORT (By Telegraph.—Preas Association.) Westport, November 12. A procession and demonstration to commemorate tho deatlj of tho man Evans at Waihi was held in Westport to-day. Very few miners camc into and as tho harbour employees wero working the attendance was small, only about ono hundred being in tho procession. Addresses wore subsequently given in Victoria Squaro beforo a fair ciowd of mon, womon, and children, by eight Labour leaders, the speakers emphasising that thoy wero not out to talk sedition. Thoy strongly discountenance anything m the nature of violence, contending that tho fight could be won by fair means. The Government was condemned for its action at Waihi, and also for imprisoning tho strike leaders, and a motion was carried without dissent entering an omphatic protest, and calling on the Government to grant tho unconditional release i-f the men. Tho extra polico ,wero in attendance, but found no occasion to interfere. It is ißported that a mass meeting is being hold at Dcnniston tomorrow to urge that tho extra polico bo recalled.
