Mr. F. P. Kelly appeared^in support of the- prosecution, ii n ,' au '' a lV6 re represented by Mr. P, W. Jackson. In giving evidence tioodman stated that while looking at the totalisator_ Mrs.. Davies came lip and punched him in tho Jaw, Shortly altersvards Brown, using insulting language, also struck him. There was absolute!}; no provocation, Davies denied assaulting Goodman. Goodman had annoyed her that day, and besides Using certain language towards her, had also kicked her. Defendant's daughter Corroborated her evidence. After hear* 'TO further evidence, His Wo'itship d«cjded to dismiss the case, with 10s. 6d. costs against Goodman. In the judgment Summous case Alfred Sonaiey v, Charles Wyeth, a claim for to ds. 4d., defendant was ordered to pay the amount within two months, the alternative being fixed at seven days' imprisonment.
