District Convention ef Southland, which was largely attended % leading ladies of Southland, was passed unanimously"That this District Convention of Invcrcargill, representing eight branches of the W.C.T.U. of Southland, do heartily and cordially cnderso the platform of the Bible in state Schools beaguo, and pledges itself to help in every possible way to bring in the Bible, to our schools."

OLD HOMESTEAD BURNT. Marton, November 12. One of the oldest homesteads in Rangittkoi, built by Mr, Slttuuder forty years, ago, two miles from Marton, of two stories and thirteen rooms, occupied by Air. \V. Howe, was destroyed bv fire between. -i and S o'clock yesterday afternoon. The cause is probably due to a defective chimney. The, building was insured for £500 in.the. National Office. The- insurance on the furniture is not available.
