RESTAURANTS RE-OPENED.

Tho leading restaurants and tearooms of tho. city, and most pi tho smaller ones, aic now open for business, so that tho inconvenience caused to people engaged in the city %'ottgh inability to obtain meals would appear to linvo ceased. Most of tho places are working with their ohl statfs._ Ono Qucon Street establishment which was advertised to reopen to-day, under police protection, did so without the slightest hitch, a number of special constables being within call in the case of disturbance. In fact, at the time of opening this morning, there wore about 30 men waiting without in tho hope of securing employment in tho kitchen. There was only ono vacancy, that of a formor pantryman, who had brought about his discharge* by the use of tho word "scab" towards some female members of tho staff. Ho Was among the unsuccessful applicants. It seems that most of tho waitresses have returned to work without protest. Indeed, some of them stato that they did not want to cease work at nil. On the whole, the rcoponed establishments have been doing normal business to-day.
"What is termed the "donkey-room" on tho Customhouse Quay breastwork, which has been used by strikers as their principal meeting-place, is now closed to them by order of tho Harbour Board. Yesterday morning, however, the room was opened for half-an-honr, in order to allow members of the union to remove personal effects left in the lockers.
