There was another largo crowd at the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning. Mr. W. G. Ridell, S.M., was oix tho bench.

Charles Frederick Beaumont, who was arrested 011 Monday with a revolver and twenty-five rounds of ammunition in his possession, was charged with having taken part in tho riot on Waterloo Quay 011 October 30. ' Beaumont, who is not by any means a big man, appears to be about 40 years of ago., He is a seafarer. Accused was remanded till November 19. Bail was' fixed at £150. Old Man in the Dock. A grey-haired old man, George Walsh, cut a melancholy figure in tho dock. Ho was charged with having used certain language in Lambton Quay yesterday, and with having inflicted 10s. worth of damage 011 tho door of a police cell. ' Ho hung his head and cried repeatedly: "1 don't know! I don't know! I am sorry, but I don't know''' "It's my head, Your Worship," lie continued. "I go mad if I touch the drink at all." His Worship: "Defendant, you are an old man. . There is nothing known against you except that you have been before the Court- for drunkenness. It is a pity that you allow your feelings to, carry you away on such an occasion. On the first pharge you will bo fined £2, in default 14 days' imprisonment. On the second charge you will be fined £1, in default, soveii days' imprisonment,,, and you will be ordered to pay tho amount of the damage to the cell door." Jervols Quay Affair. 1 Leonard Larkjns, who was arrested on Monday afternoon on a charge of having used certain language in Jeryois Quay, was remanded till Monday next. Mr. H, P. O'Leary, counsel for Larkins, asked that l.is client should be released on bail. Tho Court fixed the amount of bail at £0. The Dog Shooter. The sound of a revolver shot rang out in Vivian Street at 5 o'clock yesterday morning. A police constable on duty heard tho report, and then, saw a dog which was in the middle of the- street begin biting its back. Presently a mail emerged from between two houses. The constable accosted him. Had 110 fired tho shot? No. Had ho a revolver in his possession? No. The constable searched tho man, and found that 110 had a live-chambered revolver, one chainbcr of which, had recently been discharged. The man then. ceased his denials, but said that the dog had kept him awake by barking. Ho pointed out tho house iu which ho resided- .It was about 0110 hundred yards fratn the place whero the dog was shot. The. man went on to say he was not a waterside worker, and added Something about having come hero to get work on tho wharves, and something else about having heard that people here were carrying revolvers for purposes of protection. The constable arrested the maii, Who was brought .before tho Magistrate's Court later in tho day, and charged as Thomas Barker, with having committed mifchief by maiming tho dog. Ho said that tho dog kept the neighbourhood awake, and he had thought ho would do people a service by shooting it. Barker was also charged with being a rogue and a vagabond, in that lie was found by night armed with a revolver. ■ The Magistrate (Mr. W. G, Iliddell, S.M.): Anything known of the defendant? Inspector Hendry; No. But tho dog is limping about the city smiiewhera with a bullet in him. .' The Magistrate: On the first charge, defendant will be fined £3, in default' fourteen days' imprisonment, and on the second .pbarge he will be remanded for a week, so that tho police may make some inquiries as to where he caiu-w final, and .who ho is>
