Wedding at Hutt.
A very pretty wedding took place in St. Jamfcs Church, Lower Hutt-, yesterday afternoon, when Miss Marjorie G. M. Scales, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Scales, "Kuhawai," Lower Hutt, was maxried to Mr. Reginald J. .Reeves, son of Mr. H, Reeves, "Holterwonth," Hampshire, England. The ceremony, which was fully choral, was performed by . the Rev. Joshua Jcnes, and the organ was played by Miss Braddock. Q'he bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming iii a very graceful gown of ivory charmeuse satin, made with a long train and with a tunic of old Limerick lace. Her long tulle veil was caught- into the head with orange blossoms, and also carried a bouquet of white roses. The three bridesmaids, Miss i f lora Scales (chief), sister of the bride. Miss Maud Snow (Christchurch), and Miss Jean Campbell (cousin), ail wore pretty frocks of cream silk-frosted crepe, with large black picture hats, each with a largo red rose. The bridegroom, who is a well-known officer of the CJnion Steam Ship Company, was attended by Mr. A. J. Naylor, as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at "Kuhawai," many quests being entertained at the wedding breakfast, r A band stationed on tho lawn added to the brightness of the occasion with delightful music. The health of the Bride and bridegroom was proposed by Mr. W. G. Foster in a very cordial little speech, and that of the bridesmaids by Mr. C. P. Skerrett. Mr. Lee proposed the health of tho host and hostess. Later in tho day Mr. and Mrs- Reovea left en louto for Mount Cook and tho Southern Lakes, the latter travelling in a navy bluo cloth costume with Oriental trimming, and a white hat swathed with white silk and finished with a white osprey plume. Among the guests were: Mr. and Mrs. C. Allan, the Rev. Mr. Stevenson, Mr. and Mrs, Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Climie, Miss Callander, Mr. and Mrs.' Sortain Smith, Mr. and Miss Skerrett, Mrs. Hopkins- (Otaki), Mrs. Finch (Christchurch), Mr. a.-nd Mrs. E. P. Campbell, Miss Maud ; Snow (Christchurch), and Mr. R. H, Naylor (Dunedin). I An Afternoon Tea. Yesterday afternoon, a very pleasant little tea was given by Mrs. W. Bcere at hor home in Oriental Bay for Mrs. M. C. Ifeano, of Christehurch. The draw-ii-g-room was decorated with bawls of anemones, and in the dining-room, where tea was laid, were vases of ixias on tho table. Songs were sung by Miss I >N.! Thane and Miss D, Tbano . recited. Mrs. Boero woro a gown of grey velvet and Mrs. Keane was in a navy- blue costume and small black hat with touches of cerise, and a black ostrich feather. Among those present were: Mrs. Henry, Mrs. Thane, and tho Misses Thane, Mrs. Hcrvey, Mrs. Heine, MissRuth Brewer, and others.
Mrs. Knight, who spent some time in Wellington during tlie winter, Miss Stout, and Miss Stevenson, are Visiting Taupo, and later will go on to Rotorua, Lady Stout intends leaving for Auckland on Saturday. Colonel and Mrs. Knoi are visiting Auckland. Mr. S. Bolton, Mrs. and the Misses Bolton, of Oote (Wtiodviile), liave returned to New Zealand from their visit to England and the Continent. Mrs. and Miss Hartgill, who have been visiting Napier, returned to Dan* nevirko on Monday. At the demonstration of her Imperial System of dress-cutting and dressmaking, which was given at the Pioneer Club rooms on Monday afternoon, the following resolution was brought- before those present, and passed:—"That this meeting of Wellington women has listened attentively to Miss Roberts's planation of tho Imperial system of dress-cutting and dressmaking,_ and earnestly requests the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education to consider the introduction of so simple and accurate a method into the technical classes of our public schools, and hereby appoints as members of a deputation to lay the matter before. them: Lady Stout, Mrs. J. P. Luke (Mayoress), Mrs. A. R. Atkinson, Dr. Platts-Mills, Mrs. Hamertou, Miss Roberts, and Mrs. Malcolm Ross, with, power to add to their numbers. Miss Roberts, who is the inventor and patentee of this Im-perial-system of dress'CUttiflg, has been awarded a gold medal at tho TrancoBritish Exhibition, London, 1908, at the Japan-British Exhibition, 1910, Grand Prize (London), Imperial International, 1908, Festival of - Empire (London) Grand Prix, 1911. Among those pre-' sent at the demonstration were Mrs. aiid Miss Masscy. Mr.s. N. Lawson, of Aurora Torrace, has taken a. cottage at Seatottii for tho summer. . Miss Olga Nicholson, who v/an tho soprano test at the Wellington Competitions last Thursday, is a pupil of Mr. A. J. Rooney, of Levin. Mrs. Meads (Melbourne) is visiting her mother, Mrs. Carley> is Masterton. The engagement is announced of Miss Beatrice Kettle, eldest daughter of Mr. W. R. Kettle, of "Invergrey," Greymouth, to Mr. J. 11. Watt, of-t'ho Bank of Australasia, Wellington. Mrs. O'Meara (Pahiatua) is on a short visit to Wellington, and is the guest of Mrs. Pytt-Jackson, Golder's Hill. A proved euro- for Dandruff is found in Virginian Hair and Scalp Pood.
