OPINION ON NEW UNION.
BY WATERSIDE OFFICIAL. (By Telegraph— Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, November 8. Questioned regarding the now Arbitration Union in Wellington, Mr. G. M'Kay, of Wanganiii (secretary of tho Now Zealand Waterside Workers' Fedoration), said that tho Wanganui watorsidors considered that it was, without doubt, a bogus union, inasmuch as it was not formed bj' genuine watorsiders, but by free labour, merely to moot the exigencies of tho moment. ''But," ho saia, "wo must, on tho other, hand, recognise that it is-duly registered under the same Act as ourselves, which r.'e hare always strictly adhered to, and in every way supported sinco tho formation of our federation."
Asked whether tho New Zealand Watcrsido Federation had 1 been approached by those conducting tho strike, Mr. M'Kay said that its executive had not been approached, but its affiliated unions had been communicated with individually, tliis clearly showing that; in '.ho present industrial crisis, the New Zealand Watorsido Federation had not oven bosn recognised by_. tho strike laxdars.
