MASTERTON'S RESPONSE.
AND ORGANISATION. (By Telqttraph—Presa Association.) Masterton, November 8. , The Farmers' Union Committeo conftinues to meet, and beiug in direct comilnunication with Wellington, the pro|viding 'of men to work on the wharves is carried out with remarkable dispatch, jit is ' considered- certain that, if 'required,' further men will volunteer Ito proceed to Wellington. Th© union has 'shown fine organising, powers during 'the crisis, and large numbers of men ;have beon dispatched south, without tho average man in the street knowing that 'anything out of tho ordinary was happening. It is to tho credit of tlio union that matters wero so well organised that the ordinary business routine ( of the town was in 110 way disturbed. Tho men proceeded quietly to tho sta'tion at the appointed time, and took passage for Wellington, just as if travelling in the usual business manner. It may be safely concluded that the businesslike attitude of the union was di■rectly responsible for the general freedom from disturbances of any kind that has characterised the sending away of Special constables and'free labourers.
