OPENING OF THE SEASON. . The Port Nicholson Yacht Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon by deciding a general handicap race for first and second-class yachts. '■ Tho conditions wero ideal —calm water and a light southerly breeze. Nino yachts hovered around the. starting-line just before 3 p.m., these being tho Taipafi (scr.), Warohou (3miii.), Ailsa (Smin.), Mahina (Stain.), Windward (Bmki.), Atlanta (lOffiin.), Muritai (12min.), Reverie (17miii.), and White Wings (20min.). The race Was won by Ailsa, which finished at 5.20 p.m. Mahina Was second, finishing at 5.30 p.m., and Taipari third, finishing at 7.6 p.m. On Saturday, November 15 1 handicap races I for first and second-class yachts will bo decided, .
