BOWLED OUT AGAIN.

MR. W. T. YOUNG EXPOSED. (To the Editor!) Sir, —As the result of statements which have been made and reported in tho Wellington newspapers that' Sir. W. T. Young (secretary of tho Seamen's TJnion) had publiclv said that whilst tho Athenic might be loaded by free labour tho ship nevertheless could not get away on her homoward voyago because the crew would prefor to undergo n month's imprisonment rather than continue tho voyago with a cargo loaded under suoh conditions, I havo very reluctantly to address you on this subject, because my crew approached me to-day with 6omo feeling of annoyance at such an unauthorised and objectionable statement being publicly made, which they as a whole, embodied in the three departments of deck, engineers, and stewards, havo asked me to contradict in tho samo public manner in which such intentional mis-statements were made. As regards your report that I asked them to work with freo labour, both they and I desire it to bo known that, when addressing them, they wero informed by me that they would bo called upon to work with unionists of a new union (which already had an accomplished existence), as a matter of conunder which tho loading of cargo is now being carried on 011 tho' Athenic.
