AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

THE WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. Tho tenth annual meeting of the Wellington Centre of tho N<Jw Zealand Amateur Athletif Association was held last night at tho Sixirfs' Club,' Ballance Street, Mr. R. W. M'Villy presiding. Those present included: Messrs. W. Hardham, M. Burnett, A. C. Kitto, W. B. Bennett, P. Turner, D, M'Keniaie, Hugh and C. T. Young (Secretary). The annual report stated that there were 19 clubs affiliated to tho Wellington Centre, and included a list of winners of tho Wellington provincial championships, New Zealand ■championships, Wellington provincial cross-country championship, New Zealand crosscountry championships, a.iid eounty clubs' championships. The New Zealand Athletic Association wore congratulated on the work of the council, in arranging for a visit from an American teaiii of runners, which should put amateur athletics on a firmer footing throughout the Dominion. The report was adopted on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Burnett. . Permits to hold meetings were granted to Victoria ..College Oliib, Athletio Football Sports Club, aid Seatotm Amateur Athletic Clttb. ■ Mr. M'Villy donated a challenge cup for field events. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr. , R. W. M'Villy i vice-presidents, Messrs. E. A. Dawson, W. S. Corby, and Barrett; hon. secretary, Mr. 0. T. Young; Hen. treasurer, Mr. A. 0. Kitto; hmi. liaudicappers, Messrs. A. 0. w. H. Thompson, and W. H. Pollock; hon. starter, Mr. T. W. Leslie; lion, auditor, Mr. A. Etching; hon. local officer, Mr. J. W. Hoeifan; delegates 'to N.Z.A.A.A., Messrs. P. Larkin and B. A. Guise.
