THE ANTIMACASSAR.
Tho revival of tho antimacasaai: has and the "nut" is responsible. It la commonly supposed that these exasperating articlos have become obsolete or are only to be found on the Brmchairs and couches of hemes in which the influence of the Victorian period htw remained. Even there they have suffered change from tho clinging crochet yarioty to tho slithering "art-linen" kind, which is certainly less liable to bo carried away on the innocent shoulder of tho male visitor. But whatever their type, antimacassars, until tho last year or two, have made no claim to bo anything but ornamental. Now, however, housewives find that- it is really nccc'ssary for the protection, at any rate, of furniture upholstered in any light tint. Although "thine incomparable oil, Macassar," may not be used, the present-day "nut" must employ some substitute to enable him to part his hair in new places. Hence the revival of the antimacassar.
