CONFERENCE HELD.
FARMERS & THE STRIKERS. "A meetinc was held last niulit which may have some bearing on the settlement of the strike. . It was representative of the farmers on. th© one hand end of the strikers on the other, and was convened, it is stated, Independently of the Government. Mr. G. Hunter presided. The farmers' representatives, other than Mr. Hunter, were: Messrs. O. Russell, W. Bidwill, W. Bttrton, Chambers and Cameron. The strikers' representatives were: Messrs. 6. G. Fa.rlnnd (secretary of the Waterside Workers' Union), J, Glover, W.. T. Mills, and — Feal (Federation of-Labour). As a result of the conference that took place a meeting of the watcrsidcrs will bo convened to-day to consider proposals formulated at tho meeting hist night-. It is stated that there- are sonic prosjxjetsof a satisfactory settlement being arrived at. Just before midnight yesterday Messrs. Hunter, B.vr(ofi,. and Fvland interviewed tho Prim© Minister at Parliament Btiildincs.
