(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) . -.■ Chrlstohurchi.Novembeti'6. ■ AparWrom the interest creatcd by the arrival qf the Maunganui with the racohorsos the seventh day of.the strike at Lyttelton was marked by .the same dulmess as the preceding days. .-..The weather was cloudy this morning, and it-was close on eight.o'clock before the steamer was signalled. The watersiders who had been attending a meeting poured on to the wharf. Many of t ihem. take a keen interest in. horse racing, .were financially interested in many of the horses on board the. Maunganui, so that they viewed their arrival with considerable satisfaction. The MauEganui bad over 300 passengers and the shipment, of 32 racehorses was a record. At three minutes past ' nino o'clock operations wero started. . Four or five horse ■ boxes .wore available, and the .Union Company's permanent men tost no "time. A photographer on the wharf was chased by, the pickets, but an en-, terprising biograph operator ivßo had tee to secure; a 4lm' of turned-the,'crank of his maohme merrily. Any do.nbts that may have existed as. to we .-intension of, .tho strikers .'w'ero'setat rest as.-the box containing'the' first' horse was swung up from the hold and lowered, on .to the wlmrf. The operation .was performed in an almost breathless silence, and there was riot a move on -the part of any of the watersiders. The situation .was, "decided," curiously enough, Jby the' landing of.' TJn'decided,' which-was the ..first, horse to.'come ashore. There were a number of trainers and their assistants 011 the wfaarf, and each horso stepping quietly from the boxes was led away through the crowd, which'fell back to give a clear passage. Haslcayne was the second to land, and tha others followed in rapid succession, a brief stop being made from time to time to change the boxes.
